Biography
Vito Cecere was born in 1961 in San Vito dei Normanni, a village in Apulia, southern Italy. In 2008 he moved to Mulhouse, France, bringing with him the ardour and passion of his native region.
One theme dominates his work: Woman, who embodies the mystery of the world’s soul.
Cecere paints with tenacity, revisiting the same motif through variations of colour and form. Like the masters before him, he strives, painting after painting, to capture the radiance of flesh and reveal profound expressions that invite us to see differently.
A self-taught artist, Cecere follows his instincts, working primarily in the dark. He has developed a distinctive finger-painting technique in oil, creating an almost fusional contact with his canvases.
His creative exploration spans different formats: small and medium for portraits, and since 2010, large canvases up to 3 metres.
